P&O ferries
How is it possible to sack 800 people in one go and replace them with agency staff?

Isn't that against the law in the UK?
I dont understand how you can legally do that without some kind of consultancy before hand. The jobs exist (as agency staff will fill them) so they are literally sacking employees with no reason.

I just thought that was impossible here??

and its only the cross channel ferries that sail under a different flag. Not all of those sacked worked on those ships.

The British Gas workers were employed here and were dismissed because they refused to sign worse conditions. British Gas were condemned by the government for doing it and then the same government voted against making fire and rehire illegal , so the government and previous Labour governments could do something about it. Maybe not in this instance but certainly when it comes to similar.

Rampant Capitalism's fault.
We have collectively forgotten what it can be like.

It would be illegal if they were employed here, but they aren't. It's some sort of maritime rinky-dink.

So not the evil Tories fault. Not Brexit's fault. Not even Labour's fault.

After8, when was the last time that those militant Pando union members took industrial action?. Don’t try and blame it on militant unions . The only people to blame are the scum owners and those Tory MPs that refuse to make hire and fire illegal.

Your party bang on about helping working people but you refuse to do anything to help them when companies like pando and British Gas sack their workers because they want to down dial their terms and cobitions.

Re: P&O ferries
This is the sort of move that the government want and encourage. There may be a lot of fake outrage by ministers and Tory MPs, but it is all purely spin.

In the current Tory cabinet their are four contributors to 'Britannia Unchained' which in its text describes 'The British as the worst idlers in the world'. Nobody should be surprised about this or what is coming next.

The Ministers who contributed this book are Raab, Truss, Patel and Kwarteng four of Johnsons closest allies, all only in positions of power based on there support of Johnson and nothing whatsoever to do with their ability.

Employment rights and civil rights if the people of the UK are going to soon be like those in the developing world, non existent.

P&O is owned by DP World a subsidiary of Dubai World an Emirates based logistics and shipping company which acquired the P&O brand in 2006.

There are well founded reports that ex-armed forces in balaclavas with semi-automatic machine guns were marching staff off ships in handcuffs obviously at gunpoint on their last day of employment.

Turns out the crew are employed via jersey law so nothing to do with U.K. or EU.

Think they fly under a flag of convenience - Cyprus.

I was in a Force7 gale off Vigo in a small boat in 1998 and it kind of confirmed my method - people often tend to really experience reality and each other as social beings mostly when they are about to die; the trick is to take the about-to-die bit out of it and live a normal life.

It's just the old British Rail logo, isn't it? Towards the end it was the same logo but with a different colour background.
